Itella Logistics opens new logistics centre in Oslo

28.11.2007

Itella Logistics´ operation in Scandinavia is continuing to develop. The opening ceremony of the logistics centre built at Oslo in Norway was held on 28th November. The 10,000 square-metre logistics centre supplies comprehensive logistics service packages such as service warehouse and distribution operations as well as transport and forwarding services.

-We are glad to be getting a new modern logistics centre in Norway. By combining our international transport services with our service warehouse network and advanced IT solutions, we are able to provide our customers with a quality and competitive entity, says Senior Vice President Vesa Vertanen from Itella Logistics.

Oslo is one of the centres handling Itella Logistics’s Scandinavian traffic.

-The Oslo logistics centre acts simultaneously both as a distribution centre and warehouse. We are able to utilise all logistics transport modes around the world. We can supply export and import dispatches, for example, from Europe by land, sea or air. We store products in the new Oslo facilities and if necessary we combine dispatches or produce other value added services such as further processing or assembly. The onward transportation and distribution of dispatches are managed through our own network or our partner network. Operationally, the centre represents a new kind of logistics model, combining the latest technological competence and advanced operational control, Vesa Vertanen explains.

In Norway, Itella Logistics has centres and terminals not only in Oslo but also in Kristiansand, Stavanger, Trondheim and Bergen. In Norway, it has a workforce of around 100 and net sales of 45 million eur. Itella Logistics’ operation in Norway was launched in 2006 when it bought Norwegian company Universal Spedisjon.
