Posti has purchased the entire capital stock of Veine. The deal was completed on August 10, 2016. The Finnish Competition and Consumer Authority reported on June 17 that it will accept the deal without conditions. Veine is one of the most important companies in food logistics.
According to its strategy, Posti aims to expand into food logistics and seek growth from this sector.
- Veine has excellent long-term expertise in food logistics. With the deal, Posti can implement its strategy quickly and efficiently. The trade sector is facing immense structural changes. New logistics arrangements and partnerships bring competitiveness to companies operating in the sector, says Jaakko Kaidesoja, head of Posti's transport services.
According to Kaidesoja, Posti and Veine can together offer all food sector operators in Finland competitive, nationwide food logistics solutions. Our special expertise focuses on temperature-regulated transport and terminal network as well as on warehousing facilities for cold and frozen products.
Veine will continue its operation as Posti's subsidiary, and the deal will not influence the personnel's employment relationships. Tuomo Rannila, Veine's current managing director, will continue in his position. He will report to manager Jaakko Kaidesoja, who is in charge of Posti's transport services.
- Veine received a committed, responsible Finnish owner. As a Finnish logistics expert, Posti can create good preconditions for service production and wants to cooperate with Veine to solve the changes in food logistics, says Tuomo Rannila, Managing Director of Veine Oy.
Posti is the largest logistics company in Finland. Posti's strategy is to grow in food logistics. Posti's current food logistics services include meal deliveries in about 100 municipalities, delivery of food purchased at online stores, beverage logistics for brewing industry operators, B2B supply chain solutions for dried food and transport of bakery products.
Veine's net sales in 2015 amounted to approximately EUR 54 million and it has about 130 employees and some 270 transport partners. Veine operates in six localities: Seinäjoki, Tampere, Jyväskylä, Vantaa, Mikkeli and Kouvola. Its most important customers are the food industry and central firms in the trade sector.
