Strikes are over – Christmas mail will be delivered on time

30.11.2015

The postal industry has reached a new collective agreement, which means the industrial actions are over for now. Work will go on as usual on Tuesday, and we can focus all our efforts on clearing the backlog and handling Christmas mail.

- It's a relief to be able to promise to our customers that mail will be delivered during the Christmas season. At the moment, we still have lots of work to do in clearing the backlog caused by the strikes, but we are doing everything we can to make sure that there will be no delays to Christmas mail, Jarmo Ainasoja, Director of Posti's Control Center promises.

Posti managed to deliver over 85% of all mail to recipients on time or with a small delay even during the strikes. According to the current estimate, 90-95% of mail will be delivered as usual in the entire country by the end of the week.

Services that are available as normal:

The strikes have caused delays in the following services:

- I want to thank our customers for their patience and trust in us. Supervisors and employees not covered by the strikes have handled mail also during the strikes, which will help us clear the backlog caused by the industrial action. I believe that this team will help us realize the promises we have made to our customers, Jarmo Ainasoja says.
