Posti continues to develop its network at existing sites – Hämeenlinna land reservation ends

Posti has previously explored the possibility of building a new logistics center in Southern Finland and has conducted location-related negotiations with several municipalities.

Posti has assessed the development of its network as a whole against its long-term needs. Based on this assessment, the company will focus on developing its existing network. Current locations provide the best foundation for business needs in the future as well. Posti will not proceed with planning a new logistics center in Hämeenlinna.

Posti’s decisions regarding land reservations or investment choices are based on an overall evaluation that considers functionality, cost efficiency, risk management, and future demand. Decisions are also influenced by changes in the operating environment, such as the general economic situation and developments in construction costs.

The Hämeenlinna region is a very strong logistics area, located at the intersection of key transport flows and offering excellent conditions for a wide range of logistics operations. Although Posti is not proceeding with planning a new facility in the area at this time, its importance as part of the broader logistics network remains, as the region’s logistical strengths are still undeniable.

Posti continuously evaluates opportunities to strengthen the efficiency of its network, create synergies, and ensure the appropriate centralization of operations as part of its long-term network development. Logistics hubs such as Hämeenlinna are a natural part of this ongoing evaluation, which also includes reviewing different network solutions and the location of operations as part of the overall picture.

“We would like to thank Posti for the good and open cooperation during the preparation phase. Although the project will not move forward in Hämeenlinna at this stage, the discussions have been valuable and have strengthened our shared understanding of the logistics operating environment and future needs. Hämeenlinna will continue to be a strong logistics location, and the city is carrying out long-term work to enhance the area’s competitiveness and promote new business and investment opportunities. We look to the future with confidence and will continue our determined efforts to develop the MORE area and the vitality of Hämeenlinna as a whole,” says Olli-Poika Parviainen, Mayor of Hämeenlinna.

“We thank the City of Hämeenlinna for the good cooperation during the planning phase. Although the plans will not be realized at this time, the cooperation and discussions have supported the long-term development of our network,” says Jarkko Ämtö, Head of Real Estate at Posti Group.
