Posti is participating in the Market Creation (MaCre) project to shape the future of heavy‑duty transport electrification
Posti Group Corporation | Press Release | April 23, 2026 at 10:00 a.m. EEST
Posti is participating in the MaCre project, a joint project of the University of Turku and several other companies, which explores and envisions new business opportunities to accelerate the electrification of heavy-duty transport. The project, which started in March 2025, has also examined the development of the market from the perspective of electrification and the roles and cooperation models required by the green transition in logistics. The MaCre project’s final seminar will be held today, 23 April, at Posti’s premises, with discussions focusing, among other topics, on building ecosystems through collaboration.
Posti has strong practical expertise in the electrification of heavy-duty transport – from route planning and drivers' everyday lives to the actual needs of terminal and roadside charging. In the MaCre project, Posti will bring this experience into the joint market development and can influence how future charging solutions, service models and ecosystem rules will take shape.
"In line with our sustainability program, Posti is committed to promoting a clean transition. As a large and socially significant company, we want to be involved in developing future solutions for cleaner logistics. The MaCre project offers a great opportunity to bring practical logistics expertise into the development of the market and ecosystem," says Anna Storm, Vice President, Sustainability & Stakeholder Relations at Posti.
Posti aims for net zero emissions by 2040, and the short-term goal is fossil-free road transport and energy for properties by 2030. In 2025, Posti achieved significant emission reductions, as scope 1–2 emissions decreased by 59% compared to 2020. Therefore, we achieved our SBTi (Science Based Targets initiative) approved target of a 50% reduction in our own emissions by 2030 already in 2025, five years ahead of schedule.
The emission reductions have been achieved by increasing the use of fossil-free fuels, as well as investments in electric and biogas vehicles and energy-efficient properties that run on fossil-free energy.
The MaCre project is part of Kempower's HETE Veturi program, which is a national innovation initiative supported by Business Finland. The final report of the project is planned to be published during spring 2026.
