For the second time, the recognized financial media Financial Times has compiled a list of European companies that have reduced their climate emissions the most between 2015 and 2020. Four hundred companies were selected for Europe's Climate Leaders 2022 list, 20 from Finland. Posti was now chosen for the first time.

"We are already in a hurry to reduce emissions. The greatest value of various listings, such as Climate Leaders 2022, is that they are pushing companies to increase the pace of emissions reductions. We at Posti are constantly increasing our investments in climate work, and zero emissions are at the heart of our strategy," says Noomi Jägerhorn, Posti's Sustainability Director. "Being on the list is again a great recognition for every Posti employee for the sustainability work we have been doing for a long time."

Posti has reduced emissions of its own operations by almost 30 percent during the comparison period. Last year, Posti reduced its own emissions by 10 percent, and since 2011 emissions have fallen by 60 percent.

Posti aims to reduce emissions from its operations to zero and make all transportation, including subcontracting, fossil-free by 2030. The Science Based Targets initiative has endorsed Posti's targets and aligns with the 1.5-degree climate scenario. Some transportation is already fossil-free, for example, in Helsinki's renewed home distribution of parcels.

Posti already transports more than 10 million parcels a year, completely fossil-free. All the electricity we use is renewable. Last year, vans and heavy vehicles drove 12.6 million kilometers of electricity and renewable fuels. We use Finland's largest fleet of 19 trucks using biogas in heavy traffic.

The Financial Times focuses on the emission intensity of direct emissions from companies over a 5-year period. These emissions include direct greenhouse gas emissions (Scope 1) and emissions from purchased energy (Scope 2). The data in the list have been compiled by Statistica, a German research company.

Other Finnish companies are Vaisala, Citycon, HKScan, Kesko, Elisa, Orion, Uponor, Metso Outotec, L&T, Valmet, Stora Enso, OP, Huhtamaki, Nokian Tires, Neste, Konecranes and Kone.
