Posti is planning the expansion of the alternate-day delivery of printed postal items to the Turku, Vantaa and Oulu regions in fall 2022

Posti has started to plan the expansion of the alternate-day delivery of printed postal items to the Turku, Vantaa and Oulu regions. According to the plan, the changes would take effect in fall 2022.

The delivery days for day mail would alternate between postal code areas, which means that mail could be delivered on different days in neighboring districts. Printed mail would be delivered on weekdays in alternating two-week periods:

Even after the change, newspapers would be delivered early in the morning on each day of the week, just like before. Posti handles the early-morning delivery of newspapers in Vantaa.

Universal service items (stamped items) would be delivered in accordance with the Postal Act in all regions. The alternate-day delivery does not apply to parcel deliveries.

In Finland, the regional alternate-day delivery is already in use in the Espoo, Kauniainen, Helsinki and Tampere regions and, according to the plan, in Pori in the fall. Similar delivery models are also used across the Nordic Region. The reason for this is the radical decrease in the volume of paper mail.

Delivery renewal helps extend the lifecycle of printed mail

By renewing delivery, Posti can continue to offer traditional delivery services alongside digital services. As no single delivery model fits all senders, new models are being developed to meet different customer needs.

Careful planning of delivery routes also makes it possible to reduce the mileage, fuel costs and carbon-dioxide emissions. Posti’s new delivery fleet also contributes to this. Posti is committed to achieving zero emissions by 2030.

Posti’s Change Unit will assist the personnel when work changes – career opportunities are available throughout the Posti Group

The planned changes will first be negotiated with the personnel, and the needs for changes regarding the personnel will also be specified as the negotiations proceed. The alternate-day model provides better opportunities to work full-time.

Posti’s Change Unit will provide personal support for career planning and seek suitable solutions within Posti together with the business and employees. Even if current jobs were to be terminated or the amount of work reduced, there is a need and opportunities for skilled personnel in open positions throughout the Posti Group.

We will inform mail recipients in more detail about the changes closer to the planned date.
