Posti delivered more than 7 million parcels during the peak season weeks – loved ones have also been remembered with Christmas greetings

23.12.2021

Finns have once again been sending Christmas greetings actively. Remembering loved ones with Christmas gifts and cards has been important to many this Christmas as well.

The volume of parcels delivered by Posti during the peak season has been very high. During the weeks since Black Friday week (weeks 47–51), around 7.4 million parcels have been delivered.

“Huge numbers of parcels have been delivered to homes, parcel lockers and mail slots. Deliveries home have been popular and the recipients appreciate the kindness and attitude of our drivers. Over 35,000 customers have so far provided feedback on the renewed home delivery service, with an average score of 4.7 on a scale from 1 to 5. Of course, what matters most to us is to have each parcel delivered quickly and safely to the recipient, regardless of the delivery type,” says Tommi Kässi, responsible for Posti’s large domestic e-commerce customers.

Parcels can be picked up from some pickup and service points on Christmas Eve, December 24. You can check the opening hours at posti.fi/en/service-points-on-map

Christmas cards have also been sent actively: almost 16 million have been delivered so far.

“The Christmas card is an important part of celebrating Christmas for Finns, and we are happy to see this tradition still going strong. Delighting near and dear ones is a strong motivation especially during the Holiday season. A physical card makes the receiver happy for a long time; receivers keep cards on display long after Christmas. We estimate that about 16 million cards and letters will be sent via Posti this Christmas,” says Tuija Åkerman, who is responsible for Posti's consumer letter services.

Christmas cards with an incorrect or incomplete address will be passed through Posti’s address clarification. The aim is to deliver all these greetings by New Year’s Eve. Mail arriving from abroad may be delayed due to the COVID-19 restrictions, but once the items arrive in Finland, they are sorted and delivered without delay.

We have been making Christmas happen all around Finland with around 18,000 Posti employees and around 4,000 seasonal workers. I would like to pass on my warm thanks to all Posti employees and our customers. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year from everyone at Posti”, says Jarmo Ainasoja, Head of Christmas at Posti.
