Helsinki will use a special postmark, designed specifically for Christmas greetings, from Monday, December 3. This year, special postmarks are available for Christmas greetings for approximately two weeks, every day from December 3 to December 18.
Letterboxes reserved for special postmark items can be found by the Helsinki main Posti entrances at Mannerheiminaukio 1 and Elielinaukio 2. You will recognize the letterboxes from the Christmas postmark on the box information label.
The traditional Christmas postmark on a real Christmas greeting is extremely popular among customers. Annually, the special postmark decorates approximately 300,000 Christmas greetings.
Susanna Rumpu and Ari Lakaniemi have designed Helsinki’s Christmas postmark this year. The postmark is decorated with spruce twigs and cursive writing, and it perfectly suits this year’s Christmas stamps designed by Marjo Nygård.
This Christmas, domestic Christmas greetings (EUR 1.05) must be mailed by Wednesday, December 12. Christmas greetings with a no-value indicator stamp (valued at EUR 1.50) will be delivered by Christmas if they are mailed by Wednesday, December 19. The mailing dates for Christmas greetings to recipients outside Finland can be found on Posti’s Christmas website at www.posti.fi/christmas.
