Clearing the accumulation of mail caused by the SAK’s demonstration and bad weather is well underway. The SAK’s demonstration and bad driving conditions in some parts of Finland at the end of last week caused delays and jams in Posti’s deliveries in some places. In most parts of Finland, the deliveries and services functioned normally.

According to the current estimations, there are delays in basic delivery in the capital region and in Uusimaa, the Turku region and in Central Finland. The delays concern letters, publication and direct marketing items that are delivered in day mail.

- There may be delays of individual items in other places as well, if the shipments travel through jammed areas. We are currently clearing this jam and we believe that the situation is normalized everywhere in Finland on Wednesday, at the latest. In the Posti’s distribution network, services are closely connected to each others and approximately nine million shipments go through Posti every day. We do everything we can to deliver each of them quickly also in exceptional circumstances, says Jarmo Ainasoja, Head of Control Centre at Posti.

There is no delay in parcels. Many of Posti’s other services were also dealt with as agreed with the customers already on Friday.
