Itella strengthens its position in Russia: New international groupage to Russia

08.04.2010

In addition to currently provided part- and full-load services Itella Logistics has launched, starting from March 2010, scheduled groupage consignments to Russia. LTL service will also include domestic transports across the whole of Russia later this year. As a result, Itella Logistics' service portfolio in Russia now includes all freight transportation modes: land, air and sea, as well as warehousing with added value services. Customs clearance, closely linked to the transport chain, is offered by Itella Logistics' partner, NCB (National Customs Broker), operating at the same premises in Moscow.

The operations of the subsidiary of Itella Logistics, ItellaNLC, extend from Moscow and St. Petersburg to Vladivostok. The road transport network of the company is built on its logistics centers located in all the key economic areas of Moscow, St. Petersburg, Jekaterinburg, Rostov-on-Don, Samara, Novosibirsk and Vladivostok. In these fenced and round-the-clock monitored service warehouses, TAPA safety standards are followed. The company has also been granted the ISO quality certificate. ItellaNLC is the leading warehouse provider in Russia and the total warehouse capacity exceeds almost 600,000 square meters. Warehousing includes also added value services such as delivering, packaging, unpacking, labeling and cross-docking.

- A safe operating environment, versatile service portfolio and high transport density create an excellent basis for offering logistics services in Russia. The country is logistically very challenging due to its size and infrastructure. We are happy to be able to respond to these requirements and provide our international customers services that meet the highest criteria for quality. A well selected, restricted number of partners enables the efficient management and development of logistics. The extensive range of services and well-structured transport network together with advanced information technology systems as well as local knowledge provide the basis for successful customer relations also in Russia, says Timo Jaakkola, Director of the Road Business Line at Itella Logistics.
