Impact of industrial action by postal workers in week 45

05.11.2010

The overtime and extra work ban by the PAU continues to cause delays to mail deliveries throughout Finland. Most deliveries will be carried out with a delay of a few days, but some items will have a longer delay. The overtime and extra work ban has expanded to strikes. Strike warnings have also been given for week 45 and 46. The aim of the ongoing collective labor agreement negotiations is to reach a new agreement as soon as possible.

Should the strikes commence next week, they are expected to affect the whole of Finland in one way or another. The situation will be further specified each day.

Regardless of the industrial action, the aim is to deliver the following items in the usual schedule through special arrangements:

In this way, it is possible to handle the items in mail sorting in the usual schedule. The special arrangements do not apply to regular letter deliveries (1st or 2nd class) submitted to letterboxes or postal outlets.
