Itella Information IT service know-how spreads to eastern Central Europe
From January 1, 2010, Miikka Savolainen will serve as the CEO of Itella Information Sp. z o.o in Poland. Savolainen will also be in charge of Itella Information's sales area in the whole of eastern Central Europe, including Austria, the Czech Republic, Hungary, Slovakia and Romania, in addition to Poland. Itella expanded to Poland through a corporate acquisition in 2008. Itella already has a strong standing in Scandinavia, the Baltic countries and Germany. Itella Information started in Russia in spring 2009. In the European market, Itella Information provides services for companies' invoicing processes and financial administration.
"IT services is a strong, new area where we can show our Scandinavian know-how. Itella's long experience from Scandinavia, Baltics and Germany is now spreading to new areas and countries," says Savolainen.
Itella Information has specified its expansion strategy according to the market.
"In Poland, Russia and eastern Central Europe, we provide basic services, that is, purchase invoice scanning and sales invoice printing, according to the market situation in the country. In many eastern Central European countries and in Russia, the use of electronic invoices has not yet become common, and scanning and printing work is carried out internally. On the other hand, a very rapid development of electronic services is possible in these countries," Savolainen points out.
In all of Europe, Itella's scanning production annually processes a total of 110 million documents. There are 250 million electronic transactions.
"In Poland, Itella has a production unit of about 250 employees, which also serves our Scandinavian clients. For customers in many different countries, printing and scanning production has been centralized in Bratislava, Slovakia. We are establishing similar production in Romania," Savolainen says.
