Itella is participating in Nokia’s mobile phone recycling campaign and contributes to supporting the work of the WWF in conservation of the Baltic Sea. In the campaign, Nokia, Itella, and other partners will donate €2 to the WWF’s Operation Mermaid programme for a cleaner Baltic Sea for every mobile phone sent in a recycling envelope.
Itella will manage the distribution and transport services for campaign materials, distributing return envelopes to Nokia’s outlets and delivering recycled equipment to Nokia’s service centre for recycling. Obsolete Nokia mobile phones and accessories can be returned conveniently by post for recycling purposes in a postage-paid envelope.

The campaign, implemented by Nokia, Itella, and other partners, is the second one to promote recycling of mobile phones in Finland. Experiences of the previous campaign, held a year ago, were good, with a clearly higher percentage of recycling envelopes returned than in corresponding international campaigns.
The current campaign runs from 14 April to 30 June 2008. Recycling envelopes will be available throughout the campaign at the outlets of the following Nokia partners all over Finland: Sonera Piste, Veikon Kone, ON retailers, Elisa Shops, dna Store, dna Market, Gigantti, Musta Pörssi, Markantalo, Expert, Expert ASA, and Tekniset.
