Cheerful stamps from a world-class designer

09.05.2008

The new ‘Let’s celebrate!’ stamps by Posti in luscious colours set the tune for spring celebrations. The fun modern stamps and cards are designed by Amsterdam-based graphic designer Kustaa Saksi, who works for the international fashion, design, and advertisement scene.

The stamps and cards created by this successful young Finnish artist are set in a wonderful world of fantasy that knows no bounds: fish fly, guitars float in the air, and high heels stride in a freely flowing world of colours. The cards Mr. Saksi has designed are also available as electronic mobile cards and ePostcards. The ‘Let’s celebrate!’ stamps and cards are available from 9 May.

‘As soon as I heard that the theme of the designs would be celebration, I was inspired. In many Finnish festivities, the cake plays a key role. These stamps are like a big cake, of which you can cut slices for those celebrating with you. Like a piece of cake, a stamp works on its own, even detached from a larger entity,’ comments Mr. Saksi.

Designs by Kustaa Saksi, the creator of the new line of stamps and postcards, include advertisements and prints for many of the most prestigious world-class brands, such as Diesel, Lacoste, Levi’s, Issey Miyake, Mercedes-Benz, the music channel MTV, and Samsung. Moreover, he has created illustrations for, e.g., The New York Times and The Guardian.

You can take a closer look at his soft lines of design and heady world of colours at the art exhibition in the Missio Hall at the Helsinki General Post Office building (Mannerheiminaukio 1 A) from 9 to 23 May. The exhibition, displaying a selection of prints by Kustaa Saksi, will be open on Mon.–Fri. from 8am to 7pm, Sat. from 10am to 5pm, and Sun from noon to 5pm.

In addition to postcards, Posti offers other options for greeting and congratulating if you are unable to attend celebrations yourself. For instance, you can send festive congratulations with a De Luxe Telegram or use the convenient Prepaid Home Delivered Parcel to have your gift delivered directly to the recipient’s door at the agreed time.
