Posti facilitates the pick-up of parcels by extending its opening hours and by delivering parcels on weekends

08.12.2015

The weeks that traditionally see the largest volume of parcels left for delivery are at hand, with Posti delivering nearly one million parcels to their recipients in the course of each week. In Finland, the most popular delivery methods are pick-up from a postal outlet or from a Parcel Point. This is the reason for Posti outlets serving the public until the Christmas Eve on weekday evenings until 8:00 p.m., and having longer opening hours than normally on Saturdays and Sundays.

During the weeks preceding Christmas, Posti will also deliver parcels for pick-up to post outlets and Parcel Points in the whole of Finland on Saturdays and Sundays, in order to prevent deliveries from being stalled on weekends. Posti’s customers are advised to take advantage of the longer opening hours outside the rush hours, now offered by the Posti oultets, when picking up deliveries. Posti outlets located at stores or kiosks also serve the public within the limits of their long opening hours in the evenings and on weekends.

Posti’s delivery network comprises more than 1,400 service points, including 480 Parcel Points.

Prompt pick-up facilitates parcel deliveries during the Christmas season

During the Christmas season, the service points receive new parcels in numbers that are larger than normally. The delivery of all parcels will progress smoothly if the parcels are picked up as soon after the recipient receives a notice of their arrival, thus ensuring that parcels left uncollected will not clog the pickup points.

The recipient may anticipate the delivery by downloading a mobile application to his/her smartphone, available from Posti, which will provide an estimate of the delivery date and time. This will enable the recipient to pick up the parcel in connection with attending his/her other business. The progress of a parcel's delivery can be tracked on Posti's website using the item ID.

Most Posti stores will have longer than normal opening hours in the weeks preceding Christmas:
