The Air Guitar World Championships is a tradition with a history spanning two decades. Air guitar playing can be heard again between August 26 and 28, as both veterans and rising stars gather together to compete for the air guitar championship. To celebrate the anniversary, on May 25, Posti will issue a local stamp presenting the current air guitar World Champion, Japanese musician Nanami ”Seven Seas” Nagura.
“The event gains more and more popularity each year, bringing an enormous audience to Oulu. This stamp is perfect for sending postcards from the event and spreading the word on air guitar,” explains Risto Määttälä, Sales Supervisor at Posti.
The countries participating in the Air Guitar World Championships opened their national championship season already in March. Qualifying tours were organized in countries such as the United States, Canada, the Netherlands and Germany. Last year, the close-run finale had 16 contestants.
The stamp can be purchased in most postal outlets in Oulu; in addition, the stamp is available in Posti’s shops in Raahe, Kajaani, Kuusamo, Kemi, Rovaniemi and Tornio. You can also order the stamp online by selecting its image for the Personalized stamp.
