Timo J. Anttila, M.Soc.Sc. (50), has been appointed as Vice President, Stakeholder Relations, as of September 17, 2013. He will assume responsibility for Itella's corporate communications, community relations, and corporate responsibility.

Anttila will report to CEO Heikki Malinen. He will also be a member of Itella's Management Board.

Before joining Itella, Anttila has been working as Head of Communications at Danske Bank since 2008. Before that, he worked at Danske Bank as Communications Manager, Head of Political Desk at the Ilta-Sanomat newspaper, and as Head of Political Desk and Financial Editor at the Iltalehti newspaper. Anttila has also worked as Foreign Editor at the Turun Sanomat newspaper and as U.S. correspondent for four Finnish newspapers.

- Itella plays a significant role in securing the functioning of the Finnish society in many ways. This is something that we want to uphold in the future as well. We must play an active part in social debate and increasingly focus on stakeholder relations and communications. I believe that Timo's strong and diverse experience will help us in reaching our goals, says CEO Heikki Malinen.

- Communications are undergoing an unforeseen transformation in Finland, with mail communications and newspapers are increasingly shifting online. The new task comes with a lot of challenges, but at the same time, I consider Itella an extremely interesting, forward-looking and innovative company. I am eagerly looking forward to join Itella, Timo J. Anttila says.

Itella's Corporate Communications and Corporate Responsibility teams have been reporting to Vice President Pirjo Kaasinen since December 2012. These teams will now be transferred to a new unit.

In the future, also the business groups' marketing and communications units in Finland and abroad, the Online unit, Business Insight unit, Brand and Event team and Corporate Client Sales will report to Kaasinen.

- I would like to warmly thank Pirjo for taking care of corporate communications during this transition period in addition to her other duties, Heikki Malinen says. From now on, Pirjo and her team will focus on strengthening the company's brand and marketing as well as business communications in accordance with the vision work underway. Furthermore, more investments will be made in developing the Group's customer relations, both online and through CRM tools.
