Heikki Malinen to become new President and CEO of Itella from December 11, 2012

Heikki Malinen (age 50), M.Sc.econ., MBA, is the new President and CEO of Itella as of December 11, 2012. At that time, Jukka Alho, President and CEO of the company since 2000, will retire as per his contract. Mr. Malinen will start working for Itella on November 1, 2012.

Mr. Malinen was the President and CEO of Pöyry from 2008 to June 2012. Before that, he was the Executive Vice President of Strategy and a Member of Executive Committee at UPM-Kymmene. In 1997–2005, Mr. Malinen worked in the United States for UPM-Kymmene, Pöyry and McKinsey & Company.

- Mr. Malinen's long-term experience in demanding executive tasks gives him an excellent foundation to lead Itella during a time when the decline in traditional letter volumes is causing adjustment needs and the growth in the digital communication, e-commerce, and logistics is creating new opportunities. Mr. Malinen's experience in executive tasks of major international companies will supports Itella's success in its internationalization and help us meet the challenges of the ever-tightening international competition, says Arto Hiltunen, Chairman of Itella's Board.
