Itella’s Logistics Centres attain highest certification

17.09.2008

Two logistics centres of Itella Logistics have attained the highest security certification (type A) of the TAPA (Transported Asset Protection Association). The certified facilities are Itella Logistics’ logistics centres in Vantaa and in Kotka, Finland.

The type A certification is only available for facilities with an outstanding security level, proven by the TAPA process, which surveys the safety technology, physical protection, operating and working instructions, and best security practices at the facility.

-Security has always been integral to Itella Logistics’ services. We secure our customers’ property throughout the transport chain, in our road, sea and air transport services and warehouse terminals, explains Heikki Horn, Security Manager at Itella.

In addition to TAPA audits, Itella conducts internal audits and takes the customers’ security-related needs into consideration as services develop further. -All new Itella warehouses, such as the new warehouses in Moscow and St. Petersburg, have been constructed so as to meet the TAPA type A standards, concludes Mr Horn.
